World Youth Skills Day: Take on the PE Pro Skills Challenge!

Every year, World Youth Skills Day celebrates the importance of helping young people develop the skills they need to succeed in school, sport and everyday life. While many people think of technical or academic skills, physical education also plays a vital role in building confidence, resilience, teamwork, communication and problem-solving.

At PE Pro, we believe every PE lesson is an opportunity for children to develop lifelong skills through movement, challenge and achievement. To celebrate World Youth Skills Day, we've created a simple PE Pro Skills Challenge that any primary school can take part in.

The PE Pro Skills Challenge

Can your pupils complete all four challenges?

1. Complete 20 catches without dropping the ball

Develop hand-eye coordination, concentration and control by completing 20 successful catches.

2. Balance on one leg for 30 seconds

Challenge pupils to improve their balance, stability and core strength. Can they hold their position without wobbling?

3. Master five consecutive skips with a skipping rope

Skipping is a fantastic way to develop coordination, rhythm and cardiovascular fitness. Encourage pupils to keep practising until they achieve five uninterrupted skips.

4. Create a movement sequence to teach a partner

This challenge develops creativity, communication and leadership. Ask pupils to create a short movement sequence using jumps, balances or turns, then teach it to a partner.

Celebrate Progress

Remember, the goal isn't perfection—it's progress. Encourage every child to have a go, celebrate personal achievements and remind them that every new skill starts with practice. Whether a pupil completes every challenge or simply improves from their first attempt, every success deserves recognition.

Supporting High-Quality Physical Education

Physical education helps children build much more than sporting ability. Through engaging PE lessons, pupils develop confidence, resilience, teamwork, communication and a positive attitude towards being active.

PE Pro gives teachers the confidence and resources to deliver high-quality physical education through ready-made lesson plans, instructional videos, assessments and curriculum resources that support every stage of primary school PE.

This World Youth Skills Day, inspire your pupils to challenge themselves, celebrate every achievement and discover the joy of learning new skills through movement.

Happy World Youth Skills Day from the PE Pro team!
